Non-hotel stays likes farms, villas and heritage bungalows are fun, quaint and relaxing in a very unique sort of way. There are no bell boys but only hosts and caretakers here. The stay experience is personal as these places are so much smaller than large hotels. They are a lot more grounded and in touch with local culture and are definitely the best places to savour authentic local cuisine. Oh, and homestays are usually cleaner and more hygienic than hotels!
